Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The statistics of an item are improved through upgrading it, also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment boosts a stat linearly.

Players can recycle up to six items at once to gain an indicator of the level of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling a piece of equipment increases depending on their rarity and level.

Upgrade components

In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade to an item is a method to boost the stats of your weapon and armor. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways such as using upgrade components or increasing the rarity of an item or its mark level. A lot of items can be reforged in order to increase their value.

Upgradeable items are available all over the game, both within the world and as rewards for missions. They can also be crafted by players. The main way to upgrade equipment is through the use of upgrade components which are components that can be inserted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with upgrade slots, and the majority require a certain upgrade level. Some upgrade components give specific bonuses, while others offer a general bonus.

There are several types of upgrade components available in the game, including universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments can be used in any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than those that are equipment type specific. Glyphs can be placed in gathering tools and offer various bonuses, ranging from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to providing additional crafting materials.

To upgrade an item, select it in your inventory and open the Upgrade window. The window will show a preview on the right side of the screen, showing the expected stats after the upgrade, as well as any required components or Item upgrades materials. If you do not have enough of either, the Upgrade button will be marked as Blocked.

The amount of upgrade components required for a particular item is displayed in the upper-right corner of the Upgrade window. The cost of upgrading increases depending on the rarity and level of the item. However you can lower the cost of upgrades by purchasing them from a vendor or trading them with other players.

Nearly all weapons can be upgraded with the use of a prefix upgrade like an insignia or a rune, and a lot of them can be upgraded with a suffix upgrade. These upgrades can be used to add an adjective to the name of the item upgrading, such as "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".

Glyphs

Glyphs are a powerful tool to communicate visual information. They animate to capture the viewer's attention and spur curiosity in the brain. The animation of glyphs mimics the body language and makes them more effective in transmitting the message of a language barrier. Glyphs can also enhance the recall of a message by evoking a familiarity in the brain.

Each glyph has a set of values that it can enhance a stat, as shown on the item upgrader kit when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an Artifact. This isn't the actual amount by which glyphs can improve a stat, but the maximum amount by which it can do so. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and the quality of the product you are in awe of it.

The majority of upgrade components added to items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a rune or glyph you don't want to use but it hasn't been applied to gear yet, you can transfer the item to a different piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu within the Glyphs Panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.

You can remove a glyph by using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item where the glyph is installed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be retrieved by removing the glyph fragments.

Adding a glyph to an item could cause it to be unstable, and the shards that are left of that glyph will disappear from your inventory once you take it down. You can also add an inscription to your equipment to give it a bonus. For example, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly instead of all at once. This is helpful for players who take many hits from enemies however do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens let players alter the affixes they use on their equipment and weapons, and they can be obtained in a variety of ways such as in mistery boxes or as a rare drop from skulled creatures, or even from killing bosses. Each reroll gives the player a random affix that is generally better than the one they had prior to. Reroll tokens can also be used to improve weapon stats to cause more damage or bonuses.

Rerolled items don't appear in the menu of item upgrades, but they are still able to be upgraded. If you click the "upgrade button" you can recycle the items that have been rerolled. This will alter the layout of the item's window, and allow up to six items be selected to recycle. The level gauge is boosted by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the rarity of the item and also its level. Thus, items with higher levels are more valuable for recycling than items with lower levels.

In addition to tokens for rerolls, players can use Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to reroll the Weapon Traits of an upgraded unit. A reroll will roll the % chance of a weapon trait. If it rolls higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower, it remains unchanged. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.

Rerolling is an excellent option to upgrade an item. However, players should be aware of the fact that the total ilvl is reduced by the number rerolls it took to get it to the final level. This reduction effect is most effective with ring items and Diadems, which have no competing ilvl-raising options.

The system of rerolls has been criticised by players for being expensive, and it would be more reasonable to let players pay for it using money or food items which would allow players to modify their builds without wasting time and effort. The developers aren't planning to offer paid rerolls in this stage of the game's development. Instead, they're planning to add a race change potion in the near future.

Leveling

There are a number of ways to boost the value of an item upgrade. The first is to increase the upgrade amount that increases the value of an upgrade for the stat. The second is to boost the upgrade effect which increases the healing or damage of a given stat. Additionally there is the possibility to upgrade the base item to a more powerful upgrade type. When this is done the new item will keep its iLevel but it will benefit from the upgrade effects of the upgraded type of item.

When you upgrade items it is essential to remember that upgrades aren't always planned. In most cases a better roll is determined by glyphs. However, there are times where a higher or more special roll can occur. In addition the iLevel of an upgrade will be determined by the type of item, so should you upgrade a rare or unique item to a unique type you will have a chance to get a higher iLevel.

The cost of upgrading items can be expensive, particularly when you're upgrading an item of equipment from a standard to legendary track. The cost of upgrading a piece of equipment will depend on the iLevel it's built upon and the number of upgrade levels. In addition, some upgrade tracks require crests in order to reach the next upgrade level.

If you're lucky the upgraded item will get to the top of its upgrade track and gain an additional benefit. This will provide the item with a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect will vary with each upgrade level, though. In general the effect of upgrading is increased by a factor Item upgrades of +3.

Depending on the item's base level and upgrade route, the iLevel of the upgraded item will change too. For instance, a weapon that is upgraded from a unique or rare to an exceptional item will be able to be upgraded to the enhanced defense of the new base type of item.
